What is the vision or mission of the K-W Princess Project?
Every young woman deserves to feel like a princess. The Kitchener-Waterloo Princess Project is a charitable organization that was developed to allow for all young women to experience the milestone of attending their graduation or prom, regardless of financial barriers. We collect new and gently used graduation, semi formal and prom dresses, shoes and accessories and make them available to young women in our community, who could otherwise not afford these items, to attend their graduation or prom
How are the dresses & accessories distributed?
Donations including dress, shoes and accessories are displayed during Dress Days. We believe it is important to create an enjoyable experience for young women, coming to select a dress for their graduation, semi-formal or prom, and strive to create a boutique experience for each individual.
During Dress Days, young women will arrive and be paired with a 'Stylist' to help them select the perfect dress, shoes and accessories, from our generous donations.
What types of donations are in need?
We are in need of new or gently used graduation, semi formal and prom dresses, shoes, and accessories. Donations are accepted year round at our local drop off locations which include; Waterloo Sports Medicine, Gloss, Macintosh Dry Cleaners Ltd. and Sage Naturopathic Clinic.
Monetary donations are also accepted and used to help organize Dress Days and 'top-up' needed items, such as various dress sizes, etc.
Is there an application process for young women to attend the Dress Days?
One of the values of the KW Princess Project is that we accept all young women in need a of a dress, without question.
There is no application process to attend a dress day and we will not turn away any young woman who is in need of a dress for her graduation or prom.
